How to stick to your New Year’s Resolutions

Happy New Year!

So what’s your take on New Year’s Resolutions?  If you’re anything like me, you may have written them off as a nice concept that doesn’t really work.  As a coach, I think any time of year is the best time for coming up with good intentions and whilst January can be a good time to do it, the key to actually making them happen is in consistency, habit change and small steps.

I’ve been seeing lots of posts and emails about having a word for the year but I wasn’t really convinced about the idea until I heard a podcast – Unstoppable Success by Niyc Pidgeon. Amongst other great things, I heard the ‘word’ concept expressed in a way which I love and that has a little trick to step up it’s chance of success.

The podcast talks about coming up with 3 words that you want to live by this year and your why for each of them, but what really struck me was her suggestion to then set these words as an alarm on your phone so that you’re regularly reminded of them and they come into your awareness.  Habits don’t change overnight,  so if you’re reminded of your words often and you know why, then you are helping to keep yourself accountable and keep them in your consciousness.

Fancy a try?  What  are yours going to be? And what actions are you going to take to get there?

I’d love to hear from you and in the meantime, I wish you a fantastic start to 2022 which I hope is a kind year to everyone.

To your health,
